June 2014 News: Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize 2014 & Exhibitions

Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize 2014 (26 July- 7 September 2014)

Very pleased to announce that one of my paintings has been accepted as a finalist in this years Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize. The Waterhouse is run by the South Australian Museum, with the overall winning artwork acquired as part of the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize collection. The Waterhouse was launched on 25 August 2002 and commemorates the birth of the South Australian Museum’s first curator, Frederick George Waterhouse. The prize is an opportunity for artists to investigate the world around them, and present their perspectives on natural science. It encourages artists to make a statement about the scientific issues facing our planet, and offers a valuable platform for them to contribute to the environmental debate. The competition winners are to be announced 24 July, 2014, and the exhibition will run at the South Australian Museum from Saturday 26 July 2014 until Sunday 7 September 2014, 10am to 5pm daily.

Animal Fanfair (12 July- 6 September 2014)

Moreton Bay Regional Council will be staging a second version of the Animal FanFair exhibition held at Pine Rivers Gallery earlier this year, with a number of new works being included in the lineup from varying artists. This show will debut a second new PhD painting of mine from my Extinction Project on endangered and extinct Australian birds: Endangered ground/night parrot (erreur d’identité au Musée National d’Histoire Naturelle). I’m also one of the participating artists at the Floor Talk on Saturday 26 July, from 10-12 midday- all welcome.
